Super Bowl XLVI MVP Odds

Two-time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady and is favorite to capture another MVP award on Sunday, but he's not the only former MVP honoree playing in Super Bowl XLVI.

Brady won his two MVP award by leading New England to Super Bowl wins over St. Louis and Carolina. In New England's other Super Bowl victory over Philadelphia the MVP was awarded to wide receiver Deion Branch. The other former MVP suiting up this weekend is of course Eli Manning, who led the Giants past the Patriots in Super Bowl XLII.

On the latest Super Bowl MVP odds at Bovada Brady is heavily favored at 7/5. Manning is also getting pretty low odds at 9/4. Neither may pay that well but that's because the MVP is usually won by a quarterback. In four of the last five Super Bowls a QB has won the MVP and in 45 Super Bowls a QB has pocketed the MVP 24 times.

Lately if a QB hasn't won the MVP and wide receiver has. In the last seven Super Bowls the MVP has gone to QB four times and a WR the other three. At Bovada the receiver currently garnering the best MVP odds is Giants deep threat Victor Cruz at 8/1. Cruz has put up monster numbers this season and with the ability to find the end zone every time he touches the ball he looks like a great bet for prop bettors. Odds on other wide receivers include Hakeem Nicks at 12/1, Wes Welker at 15/1 and Branch is a huge long shot to win another MVP at 40/1.

One player that has seen his MVP odds drop in the last few days is New England tight end Rob Gronkowski. When the odds were first set Gronkowski had lower odds that Cruz at 7/1. Gronkowski's injured ankle has quickly changed that. The record-setting tight end hasn't practiced since the Patriots defeated the Raven in the AFC Championship due to an ankle sprain. According to the Pats the injury will not keep him from playing in the big game, but it could limit his effectiveness. That is why his MVP odds have fallen to 10/1 at Bovada.
