Team Season Win Totals

The oddsmakers over at Bodog have already mapped out their vision of the upcoming NFL season with their season win totals over/under props, but one key injury could quickly send some teams from an over play to an under favorite.

There are a number of teams around the league that could see their win total drop bigtime as a result of injury to one very important player. The Atlanta Falcons have already seen their season win total taken off the board thanks to Michael Vicks's questionable status. The Colts, Patriots and Chargers all open the season with high over/under win totals, but if Peyton Manning, Tom Brady or LaDainian Tomlinson ends up on the shelf, those wins might be much harder to come by. Out of those three top-tier teams, only the Patriots are favored to go over their set win total at Bodog. The Pats are a -140 Over favorite at 11.5 wins, the Colts are a -135 Under favorite at 11 wins, while the Chargers are -115 for both Over and Under at 11 wins.

The NFC's top-ranked team from a year ago, the Chicago Bears, aren't getting much love from the Bodog oddsmakers. The Bears' win total was set at 10.5 after Chicago won 13 regular-season games last year. Bodog has listed the Bears as a -115 Under favorite, so they don't expect them to even crack 11 wins this season.

Another noteworthy NFC team to look at is the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are almost every expert's dark horse pick in the lame NFC West. The 49ers' win total at Bodog was set at 7.5 with the Over as a -175 favorite. If the 49ers hope to make a run at the playoffs this year they'll have to win at least eight games, so an Over pick definitely looks worthy of consideration.
