NFL Week 17 Picks

Ol' Joe didn't get what he wanted for Christmas, as I didn't go 4-0 ATS in Week 16. Instead I went a lame 2-2 ATS which did nothing to improve my season record. I was right with San Diego and Tampa Bay, but the Rams and Redskins both wrecked and couldn't cover the spread. With the NFL regular season concluding this week it's my last shot for a perfect week before the playoffs. Here goes nothing.

Philadelphia (+3) at Dallas
The Eagles head into Week 17 having won six straight and by upsetting Dallas on Sunday they'll clinch the NFC East. Back in Week 9 the Cowboys defeated the Eagles 20-16 in Philadelphia, so it's payback time for Philly. The Eagles have had a lost of success on the road lately with a 4-1 ATS mark in their last five games. They're also 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus Dallas and 4-1 ATS in their last five at Dallas. Take Philadelphia +3.

Kansas City at Denver (-13)
I was thinking about taking the Chiefs to cover as the big underdog in this one, but then I remembered how the Broncos crushed Kansas City 44-13 back In Week 13. Denver hasn't been very good lately, but they have to win this week to have a shot at the postseason and a visit from the Chiefs is just what they need. Kansas City is a lame 1-4 ATS in their last five games and in their last eight trips to Denver they've covered only twice. Take Denver -13.

Chicago (-3) at Detroit
How many people were burned by the Bears last week when they upset the Vikings? I would have been one of them if I hadn't missed the cutoff time to place my bets. My bankroll was saved by laziness. I won't miss this one, though, as the Bears should roll over Detroit. The Lions are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10, and after placing Matt Stafford on IR they'll have to start either Daunte Culpepper or Drew Stanton again this weekend. That means a dead Lions offense. The Bears took down Minnesota last week and should have no problem blasting Detroit as long as Jay Cutler doesn't throw the game away. Take Chicago -3.

Cincinnati at NY Jets (-10)
The Jets need a win to clinch a playoff spot this weekend and they've actually drawn a good opponent in the Bengals. Cincinnati clinched the AFC North last week and have nothing to gain from a win on Sunday. That should mean limited minutes for their starters on both sides of the ball. New York's top-ranked defense should have a field day against the Bengals' backups. The Jets have been paying off bettors lately with a 4-1 ATS mark in their last five games. Take New York -10.

Overall Results:
SU: 46-19
ATS: 29-33-2
