The New York Jets travel out to the West Coast to take on the Oakland Raiders this upcoming Sunday afternoon in an AFC East-West clash at Oakland County Coliseum. Game is set for 4:15 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast regionally on CBS.

New York is 2-0, but it took two different paths to get there. First, it escaped with 27-24 victory over Dallas in its home opener as a 6.5-point favorite in a game it should have never won. This past Sunday against Jacksonville, the outcome was never really in doubt as the Jets cruised to a 32-3 romp as an 8.5-point home favorite. The total went ‘over’ the 40.5-line against the Cowboys and stayed ‘under’ the 38-point line against the Jaguars.

Rex Ryan’s formula of a solid run game combined with a shutdown defense has taken a twist so far this season as his team is ranked 28th in rushing offense, but 13th in passing the ball. The defense was back to its old self this past week after giving up close to 400 yards of total offense to Dallas.

Oakland is coming off a heart-breaking 38-35 loss to the Bills as a 3.5-point road underdog in a game that went well ‘over’ the 41-point line. A last second desperation Hail Mary pass by Jason Campbell into the end zone appeared that it might have been caught, but after a 10-minute delay it was ruled an interception. The Raiders were coming off a tight 23-20 victory over Denver as a three-point road underdog in their Monday night season opener. The total in that game went ‘over’ the 42.5-point line by the slimmest of margins.

Paced by a running game that has averaged just over 160.5 yards a game, the Raiders offense has been able to move the ball fairly well so far. Look for them to test the heart of the Jets’ front seven behind Daren McFadden, who has rushed for 222 yards on 42 carries in the first two games.

The Jets are 13-4 straight-up in their last 17 games on the road. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last eight games overall and in 11 of their last 12 games on the road.

The Raiders are 4-2 SU in their last six games at home. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their last seven home games and in five of their last six games overall.

Head-to-head in this series, New York has won four of the last five games straight-up, but is just 2-3-1 against the spread in its last six trips to Oakland. The last time they met was in 2009 when New York waxed the Raiders on the road 38-0 as a six-point favorite.

Point Spread Pick

This time around it will be a whole different ball game as Oakland rises to the occasion in its home opener to come away with an outright win.
