It will be an East Coast verse West Coast clash in this season’s NFC Championship Game as the New York Giants face-off against the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday afternoon’s late game at Candlestick Park. The kick-off is slated for 6:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on FOX.
New York ran its current winning streak to four games with a dominating performance on both sides of the ball in a shocking 37-20 victory over Green Bay as an eight-point road underdog in Sunday’s Divisional Round. The Giants are now 11-7 straight-up on the year and 10-7-1 against the spread. They are 6-3 both SU and ATS on the road this season and the total has gone ‘over’ in six of the nine games.
Head Coach Tom Coughlin once again has his team peaking at the right time with Eli Manning back to top form on offense with 607 yards passing and six touchdowns in his past two games to go along with a defense that is back to playing up to its reputation as one of the best in the league.
San Francisco’s 13-3 SU record in the regular season was mainly attributed to the solid play of its defense, but it was Alex Smith and a never-say-die offense that has this team in the conference title game. A last-minute touchdown pass from Smith to tight end Vernon Davis proved to be the difference in the 49ers stunning 36-32 victory over New Orleans as 3.5-point home underdogs last Saturday in the NFC’s other Divisional Round game.
They come into this game at 13-3-1 ATS overall and a very profitable 8-0-1 ATS at home. The total has gone 5-4 in their nine home games this season. The big question coming into this game is can San Francisco’s offense come-up with another performance like that this Sunday in what should pan-out to be another close battle until the end?
The Giants are now 5-1 ATS in their last six games against the NFC and 7-1 ATS in their last eight playoff games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of their last nine games in the postseason.
The 49ers are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 games against the NFC and 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of their last five playoff games at home.
The home team is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings and the favorite is a perfect 4-0 ATS in the last four, but New York is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of the last five games.
The 49ers pulled-out a 27-20 victory as four-point home favorite the first time they met this season, but stick with the Giants to win when it counts the most.
