NFL Week 6 injury handicapping

Forget about the star running back’s sore knee and the QB’s wonky shoulder – it’s injuries to the men in the trenches that usually dictate how a game – and your NFL bets – go on Sunday.

Arizona +3 at Seattle

In Week 6, Seattle is one of those prime examples of a team that could stumble at home. Wracked by injuries at T, the Seahawks signed veteran help and are working on their fourth LT of the young season.

They are favored at home against a deceptive Cardinals team in an important NFC West battle. With Arizona finally fielding a healthy trio of dynamic WRs, this could be a problem game for Seattle backers.

Seattle CB Ken Lucas will play, after burying his father this week. He should help stabilize things but Arizona could be a decent play here at +3, a week after Seattle mauled the Jaguars 41-0.

Washington -6.5 at home to KC

In Washington, many observers are expecting a win for the Redskins as they host the 0-5 Chiefs. But scratch beneath the surface here and you have some NFL betting alarm bells going off.

Washington is averaging just 14.6 points per game and it's not because they have been facing some of the top defenses. They barely beat the Rams and Bucs and lost to the Lions. For everyone keeping track at home, those three teams 30th, 31st and 32nd in the league in defense.

Now they have to go without their starting LT Chris Samuels, a six-time Pro Bowler. That O-Line has been bad and it might get worse against KC. Is this a spot for the 0-5 road team to scoop a win? Their level of competition has been much tougher in losses to the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys the past three weeks.

Tennessee +9.5 at New England

At Foxboro, OT Matt Light (knee) and DE Ty Warren (calf) missed the team's practice Wednesday and this merits your attention as another 0-5 road underdog threatens an outright win.

As well, DE Jarvis Green (knee), OT Nick Kaczur (ankle), LB Jerod Mayo (knee), S James Sanders (shoulder), CB Shawn Springs (knee) and DT Vince Wilfork (ankle) all practiced Wednesday, but were limited.

With two OTs limping, can Brady and the Pats exploit Tennessee’s 31st ranked pass defense, which has allowed 287.6 passing yards per game? Some bettors continue to believe the Titans are not as bad as their record, but they gave up 68 points in successive blowout losses to Indy and Jacksonville the past two weeks.
