The Green Bay Packers and the Atlanta Falcon square-off this upcoming Sunday night at the Georgia Dome in a rematch from last year’s playoffs. Kick-off for this prime time NFC showdown is set for 8:20 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on NBC.

Green Bay, along with the surprising Detroit Lions in its same division, is one of just two teams to open the season at 4-0 straight-up. It is 3-1 against the spread and the total has gone ‘over’ in three of the four games.

The Packers have rolled to a perfect start by outscoring their opponents by a combined 51 points. They are ranked first in the NFL in scoring with an average of 37 points a game and have yet to score less than 27 points in any particular game. Aaron Rodgers has been firing on all cylinders with 1,325 passing yards and 12 touchdowns throw verse just two interceptions. One of the biggest boosts to this offense has been the return of tight end Jermichael Finley , who spent a good portion of last season on the Injured Reserve list. He has 18 receptions for 234 yards and three TD’s.

Atlanta has been a mixed bag this season with an ugly 30-12 loss to Chicago on opening day as a 1.5-point road favorite, a stirring come-from-behind 35-31 victory over Philadelphia as a one-point home underdog, and another puzzling loss in a 16-13 setback to Tampa Bay as a one-point underdog in Week 3. The Falcons are 2-2 SU and 1-3 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of their four games.

Consistency on offense has been an issue for Atlanta, especially for quarterback Matt Ryan. He has 1,135 yards passing and six touchdowns, but is completing just over 62 percent of his passes and has been intercepted four times to contribute to an overall passer rating of 84.8. Even the usually reliable running game led my Michael Turner has struggled so far with an average of just 99.8 yards a game.

The big question for this game is will Atlanta be able to put aside the memory of last season’s 48-21 beatdown at the hands of the Packers as a one-point home favorite in last year’s playoffs. It was one of Ryan’s worst games as a professional with two interceptions and one lost fumble that helped to dig an early hole the Falcons never came close to climbing out of.

The Packers are 5-0 SU in its last five games on the road, while the Falcons are 9-2 SU in its last 11 home games. Including last season’s playoff win, Green Bay is just 2-5 SU in its last seven trips to Atlanta and 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last eight meetings.

Point Spread Pick

Packers are humming along at full speed, while the Falcons are still nowhere near last year’s form. Stick with Green Bay to come into the Georgia Dome on Sunday night and put another major hurting on the home team.
