The surprising Buffalo Bills will be looking for their fifth win in their first six starts when they travel to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey to tangle with the New York Giants this Sunday afternoon. The kick-off for this one is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast regionally on CBS.
Buffalo took its first step towards being a legitimate contender in the AFC with a dramatic come-from-behind 34-31 victory over New England as a seven-point home underdog in Week 3. It went a long way towards cementing that notion after beating-up on Philadelphia last Sunday in a 31-24 win as a three-point home underdog. The Bills are 4-1 straight-up (3-2 against the spread) on the year and the total has gone ‘over’ in all five of their games.
The Bills offense is ranked 11th in the NFL overall, but it has been very opportunistic with the ball. They are averaging 32.8 points a game, which is third-best in the league. Their defense has made the most of the breaks on that side of the ball and despite the fact it is ranked 30th overall, it leads the league with a turnover ratio of +11.
New York has been up to its old tricks this season; looking like world-beaters one week and like a team that could not beat anyone in the world the next. It is 3-2 both SU and ATS and the total has gone ‘over’ in three of its five games.
Last week was a perfect example of the inconsistencies that continue to plague this team. The Giants appeared to be on their way to a win when a 94-yard interception return for a score sealed their fate in a 36-25 loss to Seattle as 10-point home favorites. This was in direct contrast to an impressive 29-16 come-from-behind victory over the Eagles in Week 3 as nine-point road underdogs. Their offense is ranked 10th in the league in scoring, but their defense is ranked 19th in points allowed.
Buffalo is 6-2 ATS in its last eight games as a road underdog and the total has gone ‘over’ in four of their last five games as an underdog on the road.
New York is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as a favorite at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven games as a home favorite.
The Giants are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings, but these two teams have not played one another since 2007.
The Bills may know how to circle the wagons when the season is on the line, but they will not be able to avoid a letdown on the road against a New York team that needs a win more than they do right now. New York squeaks out the win and point spread cover.
