The Texas A&M Aggies will try a deal a major blow to the Oklahoma Sooners’ Big 12 title hopes this upcoming Saturday when the two clash at Memorial Stadium in Norman. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
Texas A&M’s own designs on a Big 12 title took a serious blow with a costly 38-31 overtime loss to Missouri as a 10.5-point home favorite this past Saturday. It dropped the Aggies to 5-3 straight-up (2-6 against the spread) overall and to 3-2 SU in the conference. The loss also knocked them out of the BCS rankings after entering Week 9 ranked No.16. The total went ‘over’ the 64-point line against the Tigers and has now gone ‘over’ in four of their last five games.
This team still has one of the most balanced attacks in the country with a passing game that is averaging 295.3 yards a game a rushing game that is averaging 224.5 yards a game. Ryan Tannehill has thrown for 2,322 yards and 18 touchdowns, while Christine Michael and Cyrus Grey have combined for 1,515 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground.
Oklahoma forged its way back into the BCS title picture with a 58-17 romp over Kansas State last Saturday as a 13-point road favorite. The total went well ‘over’ the 57.5-point line. Bob Stoop’s bunch is now 7-1 SU (5-3 ATS) on the year overall and 4-1 SU in the Big 12. The total has now gone ‘over’ in five of its eight games.
The Sooners continue to roll-up points behind Heisman-hopeful Landry Jones, who has completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 3,094 yards and 26 touchdowns. He is now second in the nation in total passing yards behind only Houston’s Case Keenum. Ryan Broyles continues to light things up on the receiving end of the ball with 81 catches for 1,070 yards and 10 TD’s. Dominique Whaley has done a good job running the ball with 627 yards on 113 carries. Overall, Oklahoma is ranked fifth in the nation in scoring with an average of 46 points a game.
Texas A&M is 4-9-1 ATS in its last 14 games as an underdog and 1-4 ATS in its last five conference games. The total has gone ‘over’ in 13 of its last 19 games as an underdog.
Oklahoma is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games as a favorite at home and 9-4 ATS in its last 13 games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its last five games as a home favorite.
Head-to-head, the Aggies are 1-5 ATS in their last six trips to Norman and the home team in this series is 11-2 ATS in the last 13 meetings. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last nine games between the two.
Two touchdowns is a lot of points to give up in a conference rivalry such as this, but the momentum is clearly on Oklahoma’s side in this one as it wins and covers the 14 points at home.
