The Stanford Cardinal, out of the PAC-12 North, open their conference schedule with a trip to Tucson for an intra-divisional matchup with the Arizona Wildcats, from the PAC-12 South, this upcoming Saturday night. Game time from Arizona Stadium is set for 10:45 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

This game will also be Stanford’s first real test of the season after outscoring its first two opponents by a combined score of 101-17. It opened things up with a 57-3 romp over San Jose State as a 30-point home favorite in a game that went ‘over’ the 53-point line. Last Saturday the Cardinal crushed Duke 44-14 as 20.5-point road favorites, but this time the total stayed ‘under’ the 59-point line.

Heisman hopeful Andrew Luck did nothing so far to hurt his chances with 461 yards passing for six touchdowns while completing 68.5 percent of his throws. Chris Owusu has been his favorite target so far with 14 receptions for 182 yards and one score. Stanford’s running game has also been solid with an average of 173 yards per game. Running back Stepfan Taylor has led the way with 136 yards on 32 carries and two TD’s.

In two games, LSU has once again established itself as a run oriented offense with an average of 175 yards a game on the ground. Michael Ford has done most of the damage with 168 yards on 27 carries, but there have been a total of seven backs to carry the ball so far for the Tigers.

Arizona got off to a good start with a 41-10 pasting of D-IAA Northern Arizona as a 26-point home favorite. The total went ‘over’ the 48-point line. Stepping way up in class in their next game, the Wildcats dropped a 37-14 decision to No.9 Oklahoma State as 14-point road underdogs. The total stayed ‘under’ this time around with a closing line of 65.5-points.

This team has an even bigger gunslinger at quarterback in Nick Foles. He has put the ball up 93 times so far for 810 yards and six TD’s. He is completing an amazing 76.3 percent of his throws and has an overall rating of 170.8. He has a trio of receivers that already have over 150 yards led by Dan Buckner’s 14 catches for 180 yards. The Wildcats’ running game has been non-existent with an average of just 58 yards a game.

Stanford is 4-0-1 against the spread in its last five conference games and 7-0-1 ATS in its last eight games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last seven road games and in five of its last six games as a road favorite.

Arizona is 1-4 ATS in its last five games as an underdog and 2-5 ATS in its last seven games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its last five games at home overall, but has stayed ‘under’ in six of its last eight games as a home underdog.

Head-to-head in this series, the Cardinal are 4-1 ATS in their last five trips to Arizona and 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of the last seven games between the two.

Head-to-head, the Tigers have won the last 10 games straight-up dating back to 2001, but the Bulldogs hold a slight 3-2 edge ATS in the last five meetings. The last time the two met at Davis Wade Stadium in 2009, LSU pulled out a 30-26 victory but could not cover as a 12-point road favorite.
