The South Florida Bulls will look to snap a four-game losing streak when they travel to the Carrier Dome for a Friday night tilt against the Syracuse Orange in this Big East matchup. Game time is set for 8 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.

Before this season started, South Florida was one of the favorites to win the Big East, but four straight losses in the conference has it scrambling to win enough games just to become bowl eligible. The Bulls are 4-4 straight-up (3-5 against the spread) overall and 0-4 SU in Big East play. The total has also gone 4-4 in their eight games.

South Florida has to feel a bit snake-bit after losing its last three games by a combined 12 points including a brutal 20-17 overtime loss to Rutgers this past Saturday as a 2.5-point road favorite. This followed a 37-34 loss to Cincinnati as a three-point home favorite. Breakdowns on both sides of the ball have been to blame, especially late in the game.

Syracuse has also had its share of trouble in the conference this season with an overall record of 5-4 SU (3-6 ATS) but a 1-3 SU record in the Big East. The Orange are coming off back-to-back losses that ended their hopes for a Big East title. First they lost to Louisville 27-10 as three-point road underdogs on Oct. 29, and then last Saturday, they dropped a 28-21 decision to Connecticut as two-point road dogs. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of their nine games.

This team has also struggled on both sides of the ball at times this season with an offense that is ranked 66th in the nation in scoring with an average of 26.7 points a game and a defense that is ranked 63rd in points allowed; giving-up an average of 26.9 points a game. The one bright spot has been running back Antwon Bailey. He leads the team with 798 yards rushing on 177 carries. He is tied with wide receiver Nick Provo in scoring with each tallying six touchdowns on the year.

The Bulls are 0-5 ATS in their last five games as a favorite and 0-6 ATS in their last six games in the Big East. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last seven games on the road.

The Orange are 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 12 of their last 17 games in the conference.

Head-to-head, South Florida is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings but Syracuse won last year’s tilt 13-9 as an eight-point road underdog.

Game Betting Pick

The Bulls have had trouble sealing the deal this season especially as the favorite. Stick with the Orange at home to stay close enough to cover this point spread and maybe even pull out the straight up win.
