The Oklahoma Sooners put their No.3 AP (No.1 Coaches Poll) ranking on the line this upcoming Saturday afternoon when they tangle with the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry at the Cotton Bowl. The kick-off for this one is scheduled for 12 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.

Oklahoma moved to a perfect 4-0 straight-up (3-1 against the spread) with a 62-6 rout of Ball State this past Saturday as a 39.5-point home favorite. The week before at home, the Sooners actually struggled a bit with a 38-28 win over Missouri in a game they were favored to win by 20. The total has gone ‘over’ in their last two games after staying ‘under’ in the first two.

Landry Jones continues to rack-up the numbers with 1,447 yards passing in his first four games. He has completed 71.6 percent of his attempts and has 10 touchdowns throws, but has also been picked-off five times. Ryan Broyles has led the way through the air with 38 receptions for 476 yards and six TD’s, while Dominique Whaley has 379 yards on the ground and seven scores. Oklahoma’s defense is ranked 14th in the nation in points allowed; giving up an average of 15.3 points a game.

Texas took a substantial leap in the polls from No.17 to 11 after Saturday’s convincing 37-14 victory over Iowa State as an 8.5-point road favorite. The total went ‘over’ the 47.5-point line. The Longhorns are also a perfect 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in two of their other three games.

Case McCoy has taken the majority of the snaps for Texas this season and has completed 26-of-37 attempts for 335 yards and two TD’s. The Longhorns’ offense has relied heavily on a ground game that is churning out an average of 206 yards a game. Malcolm Brown has accounted for a good chunk of this production with 327 yards rushing on 67 carries. Texas’s defense has also been hard to score on so far; giving up an average of just 14.8 points a game which is ranked 12th in the country.

Oklahoma is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games and 4-1 ATS in its last five games as a favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of its last eight games.

Texas is 4-2 ATS in its last six games overall, but just 1-4 ATS in its last five games as an underdog. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of its last seven games.

Head-to-head in this series, the Longhorns are 4-2 SU in the last six games and 4-1-1 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in two of the last three meetings. Last season the Sooners came out on top 28-20 as three-point favorites and the total went ‘over’ the 46.5-point line.

Game Betting Pick

The scores in this rivalry have remained relatively close over the past few seasons and this year’s result should be no different. Oklahoma gets the win, but Texas covers with the nine points.
