The Oklahoma Sooners look to remain in both the Big 12 and BCS title game picture when they take-on the Baylor Bears this Saturday night at Floyd Casey Stadium. The kick-off in this conference clash is slated for 8 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
Do not look now but Oklahoma has steam-rolled its way back into the BCS top five at No.5 with an impressive 58-17 win over then-No.8 Kansas State as a 13-point road favorite on Oct. 29 followed by a 41-25 victory over Texas A&M two weeks ago as a 13.5-point home favorite. The Sooners are now 8-1 straight-up on the year and 6-3 against the spread. They are 5-1 SU in the Big 12 and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their nine games overall.
Oklahoma will once again look to Landry Jones to provide the offensive fire-power to get by the Bears. He has thrown for 3,349 yards and 28 touchdowns while completing 64.6 percent of his passes. His favorite target by far has been Ryan Broyles, but he was lost for the season with a torn ACL in the win over the Aggies. The Sooners also lost their best running back three weeks ago when Dominique Whaley went down with a broken ankle. Look for wide receiver Kenny Stills and running back Roy Finch to step-up and fill the void.
Baylor moved to 6-3 SU (4-4 ATS) on the year after sweating-out a 31-30 overtime win over Kansas this past Saturday as a 20.5-point road favorite. The total stayed well ‘under’ the inflated 75-point line, but it has gone ‘over’ in five of its previous eight games this season. The Bears are 3-3 SU in conference play and 5-0 SU (4-0 ATS) at home this year.
For the Bears to come away with the upset at home, they will need a big day through the air behind Robert Griffin III. He has passed for 3,093 yards while completing an impressive 74.2 percent of his throws. He has 29 touchdown passes against just five interceptions and has been a threat with his legs as well with 489 yards on the ground.
The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as a road favorite and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven games as a favorite.
The Bears are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games as a home underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven games as an underdog.
Head-to-head in this series, the road team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings and Oklahoma is 7-1 ATS in its last eight trips to Floyd Casey Stadium.
With a shot at No.2 Oklahoma State and the Big 12 title on the horizon, look for the Sooners to take care of business in this game with a lopsided win.
