College Football BettingOdds to Win 2009 BCS Championship
It is no shock that USC (4.5/1) is again the favorite to win the BCS Championship. Talk about stacked; the Trojans are legit on both sides of the ball. A huge key to the Trojans season is how new QB Mark Sanchez plays. They have a stud RB, Allan Bradford, and their defense may be even tougher this year. Their WR corps would be good in the NFL and their O line is solid. There are no weaknesses on the Trojans and they have to avoid a huge upset, such as last year to Stanford. The big game is when Ohio State comes to La La land, as the winner of that game has the edge on the BCS Title. Speaking of Ohio State (5/1) they have a legit shot at the Title, but as stated before, their trip to USC is HUGE. The Buckeyes have one of the better defenses in the nation and they have a Heisman candidate in RB Chris Wells. Ohio State plays a tough Big 10 schedule, but with the talent they have they are the team to beat in the conference and maybe even the nation. Georgia (6/1) also has a Heisman candidate in their backfield in Knowshon Moreno (1,334 yards, 14 TD's). The Bulldog D is awesome, allowing only 3.3 yards per rush in 2007, and they are even better this year. Their big game against Florida is THE game of the year for them, as if they win that game and the others, which they should, they should snag a BCS Title game slot. Florida (6.5/1)? What have they got, besides the reigning Heisman winner in QB Tim Tebow and another Heisman candidate in WR Percy Harvin. Their offense is scary and if their D performs they will be hard to beat. They play a tough SEC schedule and their game at home against Georgia is off the charts, in terms of the National Title picture. Oklahoma (7/1) is not the Oklahoma of years past, as they have a passing QB (Sam Bradford 3,121 yards, 36 TD's) and a stellar RB duo. Like the past they have one of the better O lines in the nation and their D is legit, especially up front, but they have to improve in the secondary, as in 2007 they were ranked 59th in the nation in pass defense. This year the Sooners are lucky in terms of the schedule, as they do not play Missouri and they host Kansas and Texas Tech, which are 2 dangerous teams, and Texas in Dallas. Missouri (15/1) has the QB in Chase Daniel (4,306 33 TD's) and a slew of WR's, but their D needs to play better (5th in the Big 12 in 2007) if they want to play in the Title Game. The good news for the Tigers is they do not have to play Oklahoma, who dashed their National Title hopes last year. West Virginia (15/1) has a star QB in Pat White, but losing RB Steve Slanton to the NFL and 10 starters will hurt them. Can the Mountaineers get over the sting of last year, where they lost to Pitt in the season finale, which cost them a shot at the title. This year the Big East is not as strong as in past years, but they still play Connecticut, Louisville, and Rutgers on the road. LSU (21/1) lost a lot of players to the NFL, but they are till solid and they are the defending champions. Texas 21/1 has the talent on offense, but their D needs help, as they were pathetic last year. They may need to put up 50 points a game to win, but the scary thing is they can do it. Clemson (21/1) Auburn (36/1), Wisconsin (31/1) and Virginia Tech (31/1) are good, but maybe just a BCS Bowl game is their goal and not the National Title, but you never know with the killer schedules that many of the top teams play.
