The SEC is poised to crown its sixth-straight national champion when the Alabama Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers clash on Monday, January 9 in this season’s BCS title game at the Superdome in New Orleans. Kick-off for this showdown is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

Alabama comes into this championship game undefeated in regulation as its only setback this season was a 9-6 overtime loss to LSU on Nov.5 as a 5.5-point home favorite. It is 11-1 straight-up on the year and 8-4 against the spread. The total has gone an even 6-6 in its 12 games this season.

LSU extended this season’s winning streak to 13 games with a 42-10 pounding of Georgia in the SEC title game as an 11.5-point favorite. In the only two games the Tigers were not favored to win this year, they covered as three-point underdogs in a 40-27 season opening win over Oregon and covered the 5.5 points in the first game against Alabama. They finished the season 10-3 ATS and the total went 7-5-1 in their 13 games.

This team is a mirror-image of the Tide with a rushing attack that was ranked 17th in the nation with 215.2 yards per game and a defense that was ranked second in points allowed; giving-up an average of just 10.5 points a game. LSU had five players with over 200 yards rushing this season led by Michael Ford’s 755 yards on 123 carries. Quarterback Jordan Jefferson came into his own down the stretch with close to 500 yards passing and four touchdown throws in his last four games.
