Odds To Win The 2006 Heisman
The college football season is just weeks away from kicking off, meaning that the Heisman Trophy debate is already heating up. Over at Nine.com they've already picked their favorites with Brady Quinn leading the pack.
The Notre Dame QB put up career numbers last season and another year under the watchful eye of offensive guru Charlie Weis could be enough to get Quinn over the top and crowned as college football's best. The Nine.com oddsmakers have plugged Quinn in at +200.
A running back won the award last season (Reggie Bush) and if a running back is going to win again this year then the clear-cut favorite is Adrian Peterson. The Oklahoma running back put together a record-breaking freshman season two years ago and could have had a shot at the Heisman last season if injuries hadn't hampered his season. Peterson is second-best on the Nine.com odds list at +400.
It's a rare occurrence when a wide receiver wins the Heisman, but this could be the year that the long run of quarterbacks and running backs winning is broken thanks to Ted Ginn. The Ohio State wideout has blazing speed, but he will probably need to find a way to stand out alongside Ohio State teammate QB Troy Smith to have a real shot at the award.
Ginn comes in at +1500 at Nine.com while Smith in listed at +800.
