Navy Midshipmen vs. Army Black Nights Betting
The Navy Midshipmen will look to close-out their regular season with a victory when they face-off against the Army Black Knights this Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. This long-time national rivalry is set to get underway at 3 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
A win on Saturday would be the icing on the cake for Navy after posting a 7-4 straight-up record that earned it a spot in this season's Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Dec.29 against Arizona State. The Midshipmen are just 4-7 this year against the spread and the total has stayed UNDER in seven of their 10 games with a posted line.
The driving force behind Navy's offensive attack remains a potent running game that is averaging 285.5 yards a game. Gee Gee Greene has led the way with 750 yards on just 104 carries along with Noah Copeland's 592 yards rushing on 130 attempts. The passing game has been basically non-existent with an average of just 108.6 yards a game. The Middies' defense is giving-up an average of 23.5 points a game, but has held teams to two touchdowns or less in four games this season.
It has been a rough campaign for the Black Knights this season with just two SU wins in 11 games. Both victories were impressive with a 34-31 win over Boston College on Oct.6 and a 41-21 romp over Air Force on Nov.3 as seven-point home underdogs for both contests. Army is 3-8 ATS this season and the total has stayed UNDER in four of its last six games.
This is another team that really likes to run the ball with the No.1 ranked rushing attack in the country. Army is averaging 369.8 yards a game on the ground as opposed to gaining just 68.1 yards a game through the air. Quarterback Trent Steelman has rushed for more yards (1,152) than he has thrown for (619) and running back Raymond Maples has also gained over 1000 yards on the ground. The Black Knights' defense has struggled to keep opponents out of the end zone all season long; giving-up an average of 37 points a game.
Game Betting Trends
The Midshipmen went just 1-5 ATS in six home games this season and were 3-2 ATS in five games on the road. The total stayed UNDER in three of the five road games.
The Black Knights failed to cover the spread in any of their four games away from home this season and the total went OVER in two of their last three games on the road.
Last season, Navy squeezed-out a 27-21 victory on a pair of fourth-quarter field goals but could not cover the seven-point spread. The total stayed UNDER the 55-point line. This extended the Midshipmen's current SU winning streak in this series to 10 games.
Navy has owned this series for the past decade and clearly comes into this season's matchup as the better all-around team. While anything can happen in a heated rivalry such as this, stick with the Midshipmen to continue their winning ways in this showdown with a victory that covers the 7.5 points.
