The Arkansas Razorbacks out of the SEC tangle with the Texas A&M Aggies from the Big 12 in the Southwest Classic this upcoming Saturday afternoon at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast live on ABC.
Arkansas (3-1) is still trying to recover from a tough 24-20 loss to No. 1 Alabama two weeks ago in a game it had all but won as a 6 ˝ point underdog at home. QB Ryan Mallett's costly interceptions down the stretch proved to be the Razorbacks downfall in the Crimson Tide's dramatic come-from-behind victory. While its shot at the SEC championship is in serious doubt, Arkansas can still work its way up in the rankings but it all has to start with a win in this game.
The pressure will be on Mallett to put the Alabama game behind him and get back to doing what he does best; throw the ball. He has completed 68.8 percent of his passes for 1,438 yards and 10 TD's so far this season as the Razorbacks currently have second ranked passing offense in the nation. WR Joe Adams leads the team in receiving yards with 389 and Greg Childs leads in receptions with 22. These two have combined for five of the 10 passing TD's. RB Ronnie Wingo Jr. is another receiving threat. He only has 11 receptions, but three of them have been for scores.
Texas A&M comes into this game 3-1 as well after falling to Oklahoma State 38-35 last Thursday night as a 2.5 point road underdog. This too was a heart-breaking loss as the Aggies erased a 14 point deficit in the fourth quarter only to lose on a last second Cowboy field goal as a result of QB Jerrod Johnson's costly interception at the end of the game.
Johnson will also have the task of putting last week's game behind him and get back to leading the fifth ranked passing offense in the country. This season he has completed 104-of-171 attempts for 1,274 yards and 12 TD's. WR's Jeff Fuller and Ryan Swope have combined for 53 receptions for 637 yards and six TD's. All told, Johnson has completed passes to 11 different players on this Aggies offense. The rushing attack is led by RB Christine Michael, who has 428 yards on 81 carries. This helps provides a bit more balance to Texas A&M's offense as opposed to the Razorbacks all-out aerial assault.
Arkansas is 8-2 straight-up in its last 10 games and 6-4 against the spread. The Razorbacks are 3-1 SU and 2-2 ATS in their last four road games. The total has gone ‘over' in six of their last 10 games.
Texas A&M is 5-5 both SU and ATS in its last 10 games. The Aggies are 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six games at home. The total has gone ‘over' in six of their last 10 games as well.
Game Betting Pick
These two teams met last season with Arkansas rolling to a 47-19 win as a two-point road favorite. The total stayed one point ‘under' the massive 67 point line. The Razorbacks were a couple of plays away from upsetting the best team in the nation and will look to erase that frustrating memory at the expense of the Aggies once again this year. Count on Arkansas to not only win but to do it in a big way.
