The Tennessee Volunteers will look to close-out the month of January on a high note, when they tangle with the Kentucky Wildcats this Tuesday night at Rupp Arena in Lexington. The tip-off for this SEC clash is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.

It has been a rocky road for Tennessee over the past few weeks with just three victories in its last eight games. Saturday’s 64-49 romp over Auburn as an 8.5-point home favorite was just its second win in the SEC against four losses. The Volunteers are 10-11 straight-up overall and 11-7-1 against the spread. They are 1-8 SU on the road this season and 3-5 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the eight games.

Tennessee is ranked in the bottom-half of Division I in both scoring, with an average of 69.6 points a game and shooting, with a field-goal percentage of 44.5. It has a trio of players scoring in double figures led by Trae Golden’s 13.1 points a game. Jeronne Maymon is averaging 11.7 points and leads the team in rebounds with 8.2 a game.

Kentucky continues to clearly be one of the best, if not the best team in the country at 21-1 SU, but it has been a walking disaster ATS at 6-14-1 overall. The Wildcats did cover in their last two games on the road, but they have been especially brutal at home at 2-10-1 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 13 of their 21 games this season with a posted line.

Scoring has not been an issue for the Wildcats with an average of 78.2 points a game, while shooting 48.3 percent from the floor. They are ranked 12th in the nation in rebounds, with an average of 40.1 a game and holding their opponents to just 58.5 points a game. Doron Lamb and Anthony Davis are each averaging over 13 points and Davis leads the team with 10.3 rebounds a game. Bench depth has been a plus, with seven players logging at least 13 minutes a game.

The Volunteers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall, but just 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 13 of their last 17 games overall.

The Wildcats are 3-13-1 ATS in their last 17 games following a SU win. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of their last six conference games.

Head-to-head in this series, Tennessee is 2-8 in the last 10 meetings and 0-6 ATS in its last six trips to Kentucky.
