The undefeated Georgetown Hoyas, out of the Big East will try and extend their winning streak to nine games when they take on the Atlantic 10 power Temple Owls this Thursday night. Tip-off from the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia is set for 9 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Georgetown has firmly established itself as a force to reckon with in the Big East this season by breezing through its last seven games after surviving a 62-59 scare from Old Dominion in its season opener. The Hoyas closed out the month of November with their most impressive performance year to date as they knocked off the-No. 8 Missouri 111-102 in a game that closed as a ‘pick’. The game spilled into overtime where Junior guard Jason Clark hit a crucial three-point shot to seal the win. Senior guard’s Austin Freeman, who had a game-high 31 points and Chris Wright, who added 21 points and 10 assists led the way for Georgetown.

Last time out, the Hoyas rolled to a 68-51 win over Utah State as a 9 ˝ point home favorite. The total stayed ‘under’ the 136 ˝ point line. This time it was Wright’s 21 points that led the way as he was the only player for either team to score in double-figures.

Freeman leads the team in scoring with 20.1 points per game and senior forward Julian Vaughn is the leading rebounder with 6.9 boards per game. The Hoyas as a team are averaging 79 points per game and shooting 51 percent from the floor.

Temple started the season as the No. 22 team in the nation but comes into this game unranked with two losses in their first seven games. The first was a 57-50 setback to Cal as a 4 ˝ point favorite and the latest, a 54-51 loss to Texas A&M as a one-point underdog. The Owls have posted two straight wins since losing to the Aggies; a 65-53 win over Central Michigan as an eight-point road favorite and a 64-61 upset over Maryland as a 5 ˝ point road underdog in the BB&T Classic. A win over Georgetown would most likely vault them back into the rankings.

The Owls currently have three starter averaging in double-figures led by junior guard Ramone Moore’s 12.3 points per game. Another junior guard, Juan Fernandez is second on the team with an 11.4 point scoring average. He also leads the team in assists; averaging 2.7 per game. Senior forward Lavoy Allen is the third leading scorer with 10.6 points per game, but his main contribution has been under the boards; averaging 6.9 rebounds per game. Temple is hitting on 43.6 percent of its shots and averaging 63 points per game.

Georgetown is 6-1 against the spread this season and 1-0 ATS in its only road game. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its last five games overall.

Temple is 5-2 ATS in its first seven games overall and 2-0 ATS at home. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of its last six games overall.

ATS Game Pick

These two teams played one another a little over a year ago with the Hoyas coming away with a 46-45 win as a 10-point home favorite. While there currently is no line posted, you can expect them to go off as a slight road favorite this time around. Temple will be game, but unless the line is at least six or more points, stick with a more talented and deeper Georgetown team in this one.
