First place in the SEC will be on the line this Tuesday night when the Florida Gators head to Lexington to tangle with the Kentucky Wildcats in this huge conference showdown at Rupp Arena. The game is slated to get underway at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Florida continued its impressive run through the SEC this season with a 73-65 victory over Vanderbilt this past Saturday as a 6.5-point home favorite and is now 7-1 SU in conference play. It is 19-4 straight-up overall and 9-8-1 against the spread. The Gators have gone 4-4 both SU and ATS on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of the eight games. Kenny Boynton leads Florida in scoring with 17.4 points a game and is shooting 47.3 percent from the floor, but there are four other players scoring in double figures to help balance things out. The Gators are averaging 80 points a game while shooting 47.2 percent from the field. They have been especially effective from three-point range; converting on 40.2 percent of their attempts.
Kentucky held onto the top spot in the polls with a crushing 69-44 rout over Tennessee last Monday as a 15.5-point home favorite and an 86-52 romp over South Carolina this past Saturday as an 11.5-point road favorite. The Wildcats are now 23-1 SU and have covered the spread in four of their last five games after failing to do so in 14 of their previous 18 games. They are a perfect 15-0 SU at home, but just 3-10-1 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 14 of their 23 games overall.
This is another team that knows how to spread the ball around with six players averaging 10 or more points a game led by Anthony Davis and Doron Lamb, who have combined for 27.4 points and 13.4 rebounds. Kentucky is averaging 78.2 points a game while shooting 48.6 percent from the field. It is ranked 12th in the nation in rebounds with 40 a game.
The Gators are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win. The total has gone ‘over’ seven of their last 10 road games.
The Wildcats are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win, but 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a winning record. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last eight games in the SEC.
Head-to-head in this series, Florida is 9-4-1 ATS in the last 14 meetings and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight trips to Kentucky. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of the last eight meetings at Rupp Arena.
The Gators will be hard-pressed to win this game SU on the road, but stick with them to cover this infalted spread line.
