Point Spread: Florida (-3.5)
Game Total Line: (133)
The Florida Gators will try and get back-on-track in the SEC title race when they tangle with the Alabama Crimson Tide this Tuesday night at Coleman Coliseum. The game is set to tip-off at 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Florida’s 78-58 loss to No.1 Kentucky as a nine-point road underdog last Tuesday was not that shocking, but its 75-70 setback to Tennessee this past Saturday as a 12.5-point home favorite was. The Gators are now 19-6 straight-up and 9-10-1 against the spread. They are 4-5 both SU and ATS on the road this season and the total has gone 5-4 in the nine games.
Scoring has not been an issue for Florida this season with an average of 78.8 points a game while shooting 46.6 percent from the field. Kenny Boynton continues to lead the way with 17.5 points a game and a 44.3 shooting percentage from three-point range, but the Gators remain extremely well-balanced with four other players also scoring in double figures and a total of eight players averaging at least 13 minutes a game.
Alabama started the season with 13 victories in its first 16 games, but it has stumbled to a 3-5 SU record in its last eight. The Crimson Tide is now 16-8 SU overall and 5-5 SU in conference play. They are 9-11 ATS and the total has gone ‘over’ in 12 of the 20 games. Alabama is 10-2 SU at home this season, but just 2-6 ATS.
The Tide has struggled to put the ball in the hoop as of late; posting 70 or more points in just two of their last nine games. They are ranked 214th in the nation in scoring with an average of 66.1 points a game. Alabama is shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and a dismal 27.3 percent from three-point range.
The Gators are 1-4 ATS in their last five games on the road and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last six games following a SU loss.
The Crimson Tide are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The total has gone ‘over’ in eight of their last 11 games overall.
In this series, the road team is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last seven. The total has gone ‘over’ in their last five meetings. Florida has won eight of the last 10 games SU and is 3-2 ATS in the last five.
Stick with the Gators to use their overall edge in talent to atone for Saturday’s poor showing with a much needed win on the road.
