The Duke Blue Devils head to Blacksburg this Thursday night to square-off against the Virginia Tech Hokies in a matchup of two teams headed in opposite directions in the ACC. Tip-off for this conference clash is set for 7 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Duke rebounded from a loss to Florida State with a 74-61 conference win over Maryland last Wednesday as a 10.5-point road favorite, followed by an 83-76 nonconference victory over St. Johns as a 17.5-point home favorite this past Saturday. The Blue Devils are now 18-3 straight-up on the year, but a costly 8-13 against the spread. They are 8-2 SU (4-6 ATS) on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in six of the 10 games.
Offensively, Duke remains one of the best in the nation at scoring with 80.3 points a game while shooting 48.9 percent from the field. It has struggled under the boards at times this season on both ends of the court with an average of 35.8 rebounds a game, which is ranked 126th in the country.

The Hokies are now 12-9 SU on the year and 6-10-1 ATS. They are 8-4 SU at home, but just 3-5 ATS. The total has been evenly split at 4-4 in the eight games at home.
Scoring has been an issue for the Hokies as of late with an average of 60.7 points in their last seven games verse a season average of 67.7 points a game. They are shooting just 43 percent from the floor and 35.9 percent from three-point range. The only area they do matchup with Duke is in rebounds, with an average of 35.9 a game.
Duke is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games overall and 1-5 ATS in its last six games following a SU win. The total has gone ‘over’ in eight of its last 11 games played on a Thursday.
Virginia Tech is 1-4 ATS in its last five home games and 1-7 ATS in its last eight conference games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of its last eight games overall.
The favorite in this series is 4-1-1 ATS in the last six meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in four of the last five games. The Blue Devils have won seven of the last nine games SU and are 4-1-1 ATS in the last six.
They did lose by four points as a four-point road favorite in last year’s trip to Blacksburg, but do not expect the same result this time around as Duke rolls to the easy win.
