Game Total Line: (140)
The Duke Blue Devils invade the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee this Thursday night with revenge on their minds when they tangle with the Florida State Seminoles in a battle for first-place in the ACC. The tip-off for this conference clash is slated for 7 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Duke rarely loses at home but fell prey to the Seminoles back in late January in a last-second 76-73 loss as a 10.5-point favorite. Since that point the Blue Devils have won seven of eight to raise their overall record to 23-4 straight-up, but they are still costly against the spread at 12-15. They are tied with Florida State in the ACC at 10-2 SU and each team is a half-game in back of North Carolina for the lead. Duke is 7-6 ATS on the road this season and the total has gone 7-6 as well.
The Blue Devils have scored less than their season average of 79.5 points in five of their last six games, but have done a better job defensively; giving-up an average of just 66.7 points a game which is also slightly less than their season average.
Florida State continued to keep pace in the ACC regular season title race with a 76-62 rout of NC State this past Saturday as a two-point road underdog. It is now 19-7 SU on the year and 13-11 ATS. The Seminoles have been especially tough at home with just one SU loss in 15 games and a profitable 8-5 record ATS. The total has stayed ‘under' in their last four home games.
If Florida State is going to have any chance to pull-off the sweep it will need another strong night from Michael Snaer, who leads the team in scoring with 13.5 points a game and Bernard James, who is averaging 10.4 points and a team-high 8.2 rebounds a game. The Seminoles are averaging 70 points a game and shooting 45.5 percent from the field.
The Blue Devils are 5-0 ATS in their last five games on the road and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against the ACC. The total has gone ‘over' in four of their last five games following an ATS win.
The Seminoles are 1-4 ATS in their last five games in the conference, but 5-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS win. The total has stayed ‘under' in five of their last seven games overall.
Head-to-head in this series, Duke has now lost the last two meetings SU and is 4-11 ATS in the last 15 meetings overall and 2-6 ATS in its last eight trips to Florida State. The total has stayed ‘under' in 12 of the last 16 games.
