Brigham Young vs. Kansas State (-4.5) Point Spread Picks

Kansas State (27-7, 17-11 ATS) advanced to the second-round after crushing North Texas 82-62. The Wildcats covered the 15.5-point spread and, after losing three of their last five games, they looked sharper than ever. Kansas State is gaining momentum on college basketball and has now covered three of its last four games against the spread.

The Wildcats actually got off to a rather shaky start against North Texas but, once they were rolling, they were a runaway freight train. Impressive "D" was a big part of the winning equation, as Kansas State held the Mean Green to 31 percent shooting from the field. Dennis Clemente led the offensive attack with 17 points and six assists. Three other players scored double-figures for KSU, including Jacob Pullen and Curtis Kelly, who put up 15 apiece. Dominique Sutton chipped in with 12 points and eight boards. The Wildcats shot the lights out, hitting 50.8 percent of their shots on the evening.

Brigham Young (30-5, 16-14 ATS) needed double overtime to take down the Florida Gators, eventually winning 99-92. Overtime or not, it was enough to cover the five-point spread. The victory improved BYU to 7-3 against the spread in its last 10 games, and it also snapped a two-game losing streak on NCAA basketball odds.

BYU came out on top of what could be one of the wildest games of the NCAA Tournament. The Cougars dodged a few bullets as Florida's Chandler Parsons made game-winning shot attempts at the end of regulation and the first overtime, but he missed both. Brigham Young star Jimmer Fredette had a monster game, cranking out 37 points-including two three-pointers in the second overtime to put the game away. Perhaps even more impressive was the play of Michael Lloyd Jr., who came off the bench to score 26 points. The sophomore guard is averaging just 4.6 points per game on the year.

Kansas State and BYU have faced each other just once in the decade, a 2002 meeting. The Cougars won and covered 73-64. Brigham Young went over the total against Florida, while the Wildcats kept it under against North Texas. SportsInteraction has the total set at 155.
