The Alabama Crimson Tide will try and snap a two-game skid this Saturday when they go on the road to tangle with the Kentucky Wildcats in this SEC matchup. The tip-off for this clash is set for 12 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on CBS.
Alabama has exceeded expectations so far this season with an overall record of 13-5 straight-up, but back-to-back losses to Mississippi State and Vanderbilt as a favorite has dropped it to 2-2 SU in conference play. The Crimson Tide are 7-7 against the spread overall, but 5-3 ATS on the road. The total has gone 8-6 in the 14 games.
The Tide are averaging 66.3 points a game, but only managed 52 and 59 in their last two games. Tony Mitchell and JaMychal Green are each averaging 13.7 points a game, while combining for 14.1 rebounds. Alabama is shooting a respectable 46 percent from the field, but have been dismal from three-point range; hitting just 26.9 percent of its attempts.
Kentucky is riding a 10-game winning streak after knocking-off Arkansas 86-63 this past Tuesday as a 16.5-point home favorite. The Wildcats are now an impressive 18-1 SU overall, but it was the first time they covered a spread in their last 15 games. They are just 4-13-1 ATS overall and a very costly 2-9-1 ATS at home this season.
Scoring has not been an issue for Kentucky with an average of 79.6 points a game and it is ranked eighth in the nation in rebounds with 40.6 per game. This powerful combination is only enhanced by the fact that the Wildcats are shooting 48.8 percent from the floor. Balance is another asset for this team with five players scoring in double-figures led by Doron Lamb’s 14 points a game. Anthony Davis is a close second with 13.8 points and he leads the team in rebounds with 10.4 a game.
The Crimson Tide are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 games against the SEC, but 2-5 ATS in their last seven games on the road. The total has gone ‘over’ in 16 of their last 21 road games.
The Wildcats are 1-8-1 ATS in their last ten games against a team with a winning record SU. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of their last 10 conference games.
The road team in this series is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. Kentucky has won six of the last seven games SU, but Alabama is 3-1 ATS in the last four. The total has gone ‘over’ in two of the last three meetings.
The Oddsmakers have been way off-base with Kentucky’s spreads all season long and with the Wildcats minus double digits again, the trend will continue.
