Toronto Raptors at Cleveland Cavaliers (-10): 7:00 p.m. ET on NBA TV

Cleveland (31-11, 20-21-1 against the spread) has tipped 2010 off with some lethargic play. Though the Cavs entered the New Year on a six-game winning streak and with 11 wins in 12 games, they've failed to shake off their hangover; Cleveland is a modest 5-3 in January, including a 1-3-1 record against the point spread in its last five efforts. In its defense, the team just wrapped up a five-game winning streak and finally gets to enjoy a home stand.

Though his team has started the month sluggishly, LeBron James looks as sharp as ever. He's averaging 32.6 points per game this month while shooting the lights out at 55.4 percent. In fact, the King has scored at least 32 points in five straight games.

Although NBA betting fans might immediately think of offense when LeBron and Cleveland are involved, it's actually defense that's getting the job done this year. The Cavs rank fourth in the NBA at 94.5 points allowed per game. Cleveland's defensive prowess grows at home, which could impact the total; its gone under at four of Cleveland's last six games at home.

Toronto (21-20, 20-21 ATS) has delivered on NBA odds recently. Though the Raptors are just 2-2 in their last four games, they've won 10 of their last 13 games overall. That includes a nice run on the lines, too, as Toronto is 5-2 against the spread in its last seven outings.

Chris Bosh is enjoying another fine year in Toronto, and it's no surprise considering his contract is set to expire. The lanky big man is dropping 23.8 points and 11.2 rebounds per game, both team highs. Free agent signee Hedo Turkoglu was expected to be the Raps' second option and, while he's played solidly (13.0 points, 4.5 assists, 4.6 rebounds), Andrea Bargnani has been a real plus. The former first-overall pick is averaging 17.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Of course, all that scoring doesn't really matter with Toronto's leaky defense, which is the fifth-worst in the NBA.

NBA betting fans have made a killing on Cleveland in this series. The Cavaliers have won eight of their last 10 games against the Raptors (and 7-3 ATS). Going under the total is probably the smart bet, as that's been the case in six of these team's last seven meetings. Sportsbook.com has the total set at 204.
