The Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors clash this Wednesday night in a battle of two teams fighting for position in the Western Conference standings. The game is set to tip-off at 10 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
Tuesday night’s game at home against Washington will be the first of four games in five nights for Portland. The Trail Blazers’ 97-94 overtime loss to Dallas this past Saturday as 4.5-point road underdogs dropped their overall record to 15-13 straight-up (15-12-1 against the spread). They are now just 4-10 SU (5-9 ATS) on the road this season with the total staying ‘under’ in nine of the 14 games.
The Trail Blazers remain one of the highest scoring teams in the NBA with an average of 98.1 points a game and are ranked 10th in points allowed; holding their opponents to 92.8 points a game. LaMarcus Aldridge continues to lead the way with 23.2 points and 8.6 rebounds a game. Marcus Camby will most likely remain a game-time decision for Wednesday as he continues to nurse a sore ankle.
Golden State is 11-14 SU and 12-13 ATS this season, but comes into this game with a three-game winning streak after knocking-off Phoenix 102-96 on Monday night as a three-point home favorite. The Warriors are 8-8 SU at home and 7-9 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 10 of their 16 home games.
Monta Ellis’s 22.5 points a game leads a group of four players scoring in double figures for Golden State. The Warriors are averaging 99.4 points a game, but ranked 28th in the league in points allowed; giving-up an average of 100.5 points a game. They are shooting 46.5 percent from the field and a NBA-best 39.6 percent from three-point range.
The Trail Blazers are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games on the road and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games without a day’s rest. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 13 of their last 19 road games.
The Warriors are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games against the Northwest Division. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 15 of their last 21 home games and in nine of their last 11 games at home against a team with a losing record on the road.
Head-to-head in this series, the home team is 19-7 ATS in the last 26 meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 19 of the last 29 games overall. Portland is 6-18 ATS in the last 24 meetings and 5-16 ATS in its last 21 trips to Golden State. The Warriors beat the Trail Blazers 101-93 on Jan.25 as 3.5-point home favorites. It was their fifth SU win at home in the last six meetings.
Look for Golden State to stay true to the recent trends on Wednesday night with another victory over Portland at home.
