The Los Angeles Clippers will try and grab their fifth victory in six straight games on the road when they square-off against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night at the American Airlines Center. The game is slated to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on NBA League Pass.
Los Angeles moved to 17-8 straight-up and 15-10 ATS with Saturday’s 111-86 win over Charlotte as a 9.5-point road favorite. They are now 7-5 SU on the road this season and 6-6 ATS. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of the 12 games.
Despite losing Chauncey Billips for the season with a torn Achilles, the Clippers continue to roll with the third-best record in the Western Conference and a 2.5-game lead over the city-rival Lakers in the Pacific Division. The combination of Blake Griffin and Chris Paul has helped raise this perennial doormat into a legitimate contender as they can now go toe-to-toe with any team in the league.
Dallas remains just two games behind San Antonio in the Southwest Division after winning its last three straight. The Mavericks outlasted Portland 97-94 in overtime on Saturday night as 4.5-point home favorites and are now 17-11 SU and 16-12 ATS. They are 10-5 SU (8-7 ATS) at home this season with the total staying ‘under’ in nine of the 15 games.
Dirk Nowitzki is not having his best season as a pro, but he still leads the team in scoring with 18.3 points a game and is pulling down an average of 6.2 rebounds a game. Dallas is ranked 16th in the NBA in scoring with an average of 94.7 points and shooting 44.2 percent from the field. It is tied for fifth in points allowed; giving-up an average of 91.6 points a game.
The Clippers are 4-1 ATS in their last five games as underdogs, but just 2-6 ATS in their last eight games as underdogs on the road. The total has gone ‘over’ in seven of their last eight games following an ATS win.
The Mavericks are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as favorites and 0-4 ATS in their last four games as favorites at home. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of their last six games against the Pacific Division.
Head-to-head in this series, the favorite is 7-1 ATS in the last eight meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 19 of the last 28 games. Los Angeles beat Dallas 91-89 as a 3.5-point home underdog on Jan.18 with the total staying ‘under’ the 182-point line. The total had gone ‘over’ in three previous meetings.
Look for the Mavericks to even the season series at one game apiece, but stick with LA to keep this game close to the final buzzer to cover with the four points.
