The Knicks (8-8, 10-5-1 ATS) are on a roll. They've won five straight games, not to mention covering their past six against the spread.
A resurgent offense deserves a lot of thanks. The Knicks are averaging 106 points per game this season but, in their past five outings, that number has climbed to 114 per game. The club is simply shooting the lines out, hitting 51 percent of its field goals during that stretch.
Raymond Felton and Amar'e Stoudemire led the way in Wednesday's 99-95 win at Charlotte-the first time in five games the Knicks didn't top at least 110 points (to be fair, they were playing for the second time in as many nights). Stoudemire scored 20 points and made a whopping six blocks, while Felton posted 23 points and 13 assists.
The bench also played a crucial role, with Wilson Chandler (21 points, eight rebounds) and Bill Walker (10 points) contributing. With those kinds of all-around efforts, it's no wonder New York is pumping out so many points right now.
Atlanta (9-7, 6-10 ATS) snapped a three-game losing streak with Thursday's 116-96 win over Washington. The Hawks have been a disaster on NBA odds over the last few weeks, going 2-6 ATS in their past eight games.
Actually seeing some points on the board was a change of pace on Thursday. The Hawks' 116 points marked the first time the team topped 102 in four games. In fact, during the three-game skid, Atlanta averaged just 90 points per night-and one of those games was extended by overtime.
Joe Johnson paced Atlanta with 21 points against Charlotte, but Josh Smith was the real hero with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Al Horford also posted a double-double with 15 points and 13 boards. Unfortunately, Jamal Crawford's struggles continued.
Crawford scored 15 points against the Bobcats and was just 1-5 from beyond the three-point line. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year winner is averaging just 13.7 points per game-five points off of last year's average. At least his shooting percentage is working its way back up; Crawford has hit 52 percent of his field goals over the past two games after making just 32 percent over his four games before that.
The Knicks have won five of their past six games against Atlanta, including three straight. New York is also 5-1 ATS in that span, while covering the last three. The total went under the last time they met, but it has gone over in eight of the past 10 games between New York and Atlanta. BetUs has set the total for Saturday's game at 209 points.
