The Toronto Blue Jays continue their West Coast trip with a three game series with the Padres at Petco Park in San Diego starting with Game 1 tonight at 10:05 P.M. (ET).

Toronto is coming off a rough weekend after dropping three straight to Colorado. They have gone 3-7 SU in their last 10 games and are now 34-30 overall, 6 ½ games behind New York and Tampa Bay in the AL East. The Blue Jays road woes continue as they have lost six out of their last seven and are now 17-16 SU on the year. As an underdog they are 19-22 ATS and 30-30-4 against the over/under line.

Shaun Marcum will be making his 14th start of the season for Toronto. The right hander is 5-3 with an ERA of 3.38. In his last outing he lasted only four innings, giving up 10 hits and seven earned runs in a loss to the Rays. He is making his first career start against the Padres.

One of the Blue Jays problems recently has been their ability to score runs. They have only averaged 2.5 per game over their last 10. They have a team batting average of .239, last in the AL. Their 305 runs scored rank them sixth in the league.

San Diego continues to hold their own in the NL West. They have gone 5-5 SU in their last 10 and with an overall record of 37-26 are clinging to a one game lead over Los Angeles and a 1 ½ game lead over San Francisco. The Padres are 20-13 SU at home this season and 6-2 SU in their last eight at Petco Park. They are 15-7 ATS as the favorite and against the over/under line they are 21-36-6.

Right hander Jon Garland gets the start for the Padres tonight. So far this season he has pitched solid with a 6-4 record in 13 starts and an ERA of just 2.81. In his last start he went six full innings, giving up eight hits and three earned runs in a loss to the N.Y. Mets. Lifetime against the Blue Jays he is 11-2 with a 3.96 ERA.

The Padres have also had some trouble scoring on a consistent basis as they have averaged just three runs a game over their last 10. They are ranked 14th in the NL with a team batting average of .246 and 260 runs scored. Adrian Gonzalez has been one of the bright spots in the lineup, leading the team with 43 RBI's and 14 home runs.

Rankin's Pick

Garland has had a lot of success against the Blue Jays and clearly has the advantage in this one. Neither team has been able to light it up lately so stick with the Padres tonight in another low scoring contest. Take the Padres -120 at Sportsbook
