The New York Yankees travel to the Great American Ballpark tonight to play the first of a three-game set with the Cincinnati Reds as the second round of interleague play continues. Game time is set for 7:10 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.

New York pounded out a 10-4 victory over Chicago yesterday as a 197 road favorite to take two of three from the Cubs this weekend. It was the eighth win in the Yankees last 10 games and pushed their record this season to 41-29 to keep them a game and a half behind Boston in the AL East. They are 23-17 at home and 18-12 on the road.

The 10 runs scored was the third time in the last six games that New York scored in double-figures. The loss of Derek Jeter to the 15-day DL has not slowed down a lineup that is ranked fifth in the AL in hitting with a .261 team batting average and second in runs scored with 372. Mark Teixeira leads the team with 55 RBI while Curtis Granderson is a close second with 54. Each of these sluggers has 21 home runs this season which tied for first in the Majors.

Ivan Nova will be on the mound tonight for the Yankees. The right hander is 6-4 this year with a 4.46 ERA in 13 previous starts. Last time out he gave up four earned runs on seven hits in just 5.2 innings of work, but still able to get the win against Texas. This will be his first start ever against the Reds.

Cincinnati has won six of its last 10 games to stay two games in back of both St. Louis and Milwaukee in the NL Central. The Reds are 38-35 overall, but they did drop two of three at home this weekend to Toronto to fall to 21-17 at the Great American Ballpark.

The normally prolific Cincinnati offense almost ground to a halt this past weekend with just four runs in three games. This is in stark contrast to a lineup that is ranked first in the NL in scoring with an average of 4.78 runs per game. Jay Bruce leads the team with 48 RBI and 17 home runs. Last season’s NL MVP Joey Votto is second in RBI with 43 and has nine homers this year.

Johnny Cueto will get the start for Cincinnati tonight. He leads the Reds’ starting rotation with a 4-2 record in eight starts and has an ERA of just 1.68. In his last start, he held the Dodgers to one unearned run through seven innings; scattering five hits to get the win.

New York is 9-10 this season as an underdog. The total has stayed ‘under’ in three of its last four games and is 32-31-7 overall this year.

Cincinnati is 21-20 as a favorite. The total has stayed ‘under’ in five of its last seven games but is 39-30-4 overall.
