Opening Moneyline Odds: Hisanori Takahashi (+165) vs. Javier Vazquez (-175) at 5Dimes.com

It's the Mets turn to take the subway to the Bronx as they meet their cross town rivals in a three game weekend interleague series starting with Game 1 tonight at Yankees Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 P.M.

After sweeping both Baltimore and Cleveland this week, the Mets come into this game having won seven straight games. They are currently 38-28 and just a ½ game behind Atlanta for the lead in the NL East. On the road the Mets are 14-18 SU and as an underdog they are 19-19 ATS. Against the over/under line they are 29-32-4 and seven of their last eight games in Yankee Stadium have gone over.

Left hander Hisanori Takahashi will be on the mound tonight for the Mets. Since joining the starting rotation back in mid May he is 2-1 with a 3.48 ERA in five starts. In his last start against Baltimore he threw seven strong innings giving up six hits and one earned run to get the win. Earlier this season against the Yankees, he held them to five hits and did not give up a run in six innings of work.

The Mets team batting average is .260, ranking them ninth in the NL. They are averaging 4.6 runs per game, ranking them sixth. During their current winning streak they have averaged over six runs per game. David Wright leads the team with 53 RBI's, 69 hits, and 12 HR's.

The Yankees are 7-3 SU in their last 10 but they just lost two in a row to Philadelphia at home. They are 41-25 overall, tied with Tampa Bay atop the AL East. Despite the two losses at 23-9 they still have the best winning percentage at home in the AL. As a favorite they are 36-21 ATS and they are 34-28-3 against the over/under line. At home against the Mets they are 2-4 SU in their last six games.

Javier Vazquez will get the start tonight for the Yankees. In 11 starts this season he is 6-5 with an ERA of 5.43. In his previous start he lasted seven innings giving up six hits and three earned runs to get the win over Houston. He has now won his last three starts, only giving up a total of six earned runs.

The Yankees lineup continues to be one of the best in the Majors. With a .277 team batting average, they are ranked third overall in the AL. Their 367 runs scored ranks them second in the league and their 5.6 runs per game is the best in the Majors. Robinson Cano leads the team with 49 RBI's, 97 hits, and 14 HR's.

Rankin's Pick

The Mets come into this game playing at a high level, but their last seven wins have come against teams not nearly the caliber of the Yankees. Stick with the boys from the Bronx in this game as they will not lose three in a row at home. Take the Yankees -1.5 -105 at Sportsbook
