Hitting has been an issue at times as Atlanta is ranked 12th in the NL with a .242 team batting average and 264 runs scored. The Braves have three players in the lineup with 30 or more RBI led by Brian McCann’s 37. He is also tied with Dan Uggla for the team lead in home runs with nine.

Hudson was solid his last time out; giving up two earned runs on seven hits in six innings of work against Houston. He got knocked around pretty good the last time he faced the Mets; giving up seven hits and five earned runs in just four innings. Overall, he is 13-7 against New York with a 3.64 ERA.

Bill Miller is the scheduled home plate umpire for tonight’s game which could slightly favor the pitchers. His 13 called-games have averaged 7.77 runs and eight have stayed ‘under’ the total.

New York is 19-22 as an underdog this season. The total has stayed ‘under’ in four of its last six games but has gone ‘over’ in 38 of 67 games overall this year.

Atlanta is 26-25 as a favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its last five games and is 30-32-6 overall.
