MLB Betting Info: June 22

Despite the fact they have the worst record in all of baseball you should have been betting on the Washington Nationals lately. The Nats have been on a surprising run that has seen them win four of their last five games, all as the underdog. Washington paid off especially well against the Yankees late last week when they took two-of-three at the new Yankee stadium as a +270 underdog and a +175 ‘dog. However, Washington could have a hard time continuing their winning ways with the Boston Red Sox visiting this week for a three-game series.

While the Nationals have been rolling, the NL East division leading Phillies have been on the other side of the fence. The Phillies have lost six straight and their offense has taken a dip with Raul Ibanez on the DL and Ryan Howard out with the flu. Philadelphia should quickly bounce back once the bats start heating up again, but that may not happen right away with a visit to Tampa Bay on tap this week. The World Series rematch should be the series to watch this week.

Tuesday’s MLB slate has at least three pitchers set to start that bettors will want to keep an eye on. First up is Kansas City ace Zach Greinke. After his torrid start Greinke has finally started to cool off lately, and bettors who have been smart and wagered against him have done well. In his last four starts Greinke is 0-2 and the Royals have lost all four of those starts. Thanks to his new reputation as one of the best pitchers in baseball Greinke’s Royals were the favorite in all four losses. On Tuesday Greinke faces an Astros squad that has won three of their last four games.

Also on the sked Tuesday is Colorado hurler Ubaldo Jimenez. After an up-and-down month of May Jimenez has really come on in June with a 3-0 record and a 2.43 ERA. With the Rockies taking on the Angels in Los Angeles on Tuesday Jimenez could be a solid underdog play if he can keep it up.

The last pitcher to make our list is Washington’s John Lannan. It doesn’t seem like there’s been a pitcher worth talking about in the entire short history of the Nationals, but Lannan should be on bettor’s radar right now. In his last three starts Lannan in 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA. The Nats have won all three games as the underdog, including their +175 victory against the Yankees. Next up for Lannan are the Red Sox on Tuesday, so he’ll definitely be the underdog once again.
