2007 World Series Odds
As we approach the stretch run to the postseason in Major League Baseball, the Boston Red Sox continue to be the team to beat when it comes to wagering.
The Red Sox are favored at +390 at BetCris to win the World Series this fall, and they have kept the rival New York Yankees at arm's length so far this season. With their depth in pitching, the Red Sox only need consistent hitting to eventually represent the American League in the World Series.
The New York Mets, like Boston, have been the class of their league all season and come in at +475. Everything will depend on the Mets' veteran pitching staff, because the hitting is taken care of with the likes of Carlos Beltran, David Wright, Carlos Delgado and the speedy Jose Reyes.
The Los Angeles Angels are rated at +550, and the battle they have fought with the Seattle Mariners in the American League West has surely toughened the Angels up over the course of the season. MVP candidate Vladimir Guerrero has certainly been the leader of a team that is more ready for the postseason than they were at the beginning of the regular season.
The Chicago Cubs are set at +690, and no one could have predicted Ted Lilly's success after last season's difficult ride in Toronto. Lilly has been the ace of the Cubs' pitching staff, and they are getting timely hitting from some unfamiliar names, which is crucial for postseason success.
Do not count out the Yankees at +700, as this team will be the scariest wild-card team in recent memory if they can catch the Mariners for that treasured spot. An extended playoff run could also make Alex Rodriguez's decision in the legendary pinstripes next season a little bit easier.
